Africa
A ridge of high pressure will be sprawled across western Africa but onshore winds will produce a few thunderstorms over parts of Mauritania and Cameroon. Lesser showers are indicated from Ivory Coast east to Nigeria. Minor showers will brush some parts of Madagascar and coastal Mozambique but all other regions of Africa will be quiet with a ridge of high pressure in place across much of the south. Highs will reach 26 in Algiers with mostly sunny skies, 29 in Mogadishu where it will be mostly sunny and rather breezy, and a hot 40 in Cairo with full sunshine.
Asia
A ridge of high pressure will be sprawled across southern China leading to fine weather there and over adjacent portions of Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. To the north, a few minor showers will stretch from Shanghai north to around Beijing. Elsewhere across the south, 10 to 25 mm thunderstorms are projected for Thailand, Burma, and Singapore. A few minor showers are forecast for the Philippines. A trio of troughs will be in place over eastern Manchuria and Japan with showers and a few thunderstorms expected. Minor showers are forecast for central and western portions of Mongolia as a trough swings east across that region. Temperatures will be mild over northwestern China and Mongolia and warm to hot over all other regions of
Asia. Highs will reach 24 in Sapporo with a mix of sun and clouds, 29 in Shanghai with variable cloudiness and a few minor showers, and also 29 in Taipei with a mix of sun and clouds.
Australia and New Zealand
A wave of low pressure will be positioned over Victoria with cold temperatures and light showers expected over Tasmania, Victoria, and over parts of far southern New South Wales. A couple of showers may extend west to the Adelaide region as well. Temperatures will be rather cold so there is some potential for a few wet snowflakes over the highest elevations. Surface high pressure will be drifting east along the southern coastline of Western Australia. Onshore winds will lead to a few minor showers along that central, southern coastline. Light showers are also indicated for the Port Headland area of the northwest and for the Gulf of Carpinteria. Temperatures will be warm only over the north. Fair, cool weather is indicated for much of New Zealand with a few minor rain showers expected over the central regions of the country. Highs will reach 9 in Christchurch with a few scattered showers, 13 in Adelaide with lots of clouds and the chance for a shower, and 19 in Perth with mostly sunny conditions.
Europe
A pair of upper-level ridges will be sprawled across Ireland and central Spain with surface high pressure positioned over western Germany. Fine weather will dominate much of the continent as a result. Isolated showers will dot portions Slovakia, Hungary, western Ukraine, and Bulgaria. A small storm system will be positioned along the northern fringe of the Baltic Sea with light showers expected there and over adjacent portions of far northwestern European Russia and northern Finland. A trough will be positioned over central Norway with a few showers expected along the southwestern coastline of the country. Temperatures will be warm close to the Mediterranean Sea and mild for all points to the north. Highs will reach 23 in London with mostly sunny skies, 23 in Sofia with variable cloudiness and the risk for a thunderstorm, and 25 in Milan with partial sunshine.
Middle East
A large ridge of high pressure will continue to extend from the Caspian Sea south across Central Iran to the Persian Gulf. Fine, warm to hot weather will continue over most of the Middle East. A trough will produce a bit of extra cloudiness over central Turkey with somewhat cooler temperatures in place to the west. Minor troughs will induce a bit of extra cloud cover over central Yemen, southern Iran, and northeastern Afghanistan. Highs will reach 34 in Amman with sunny skies, 35 in Karachi with a mix of sun and clouds, and 42 in Saravan with full sunshine.
South America
A trough will be moving east across Uruguay and southern Brazil with a branch of the jet stream overhead. Some wind-driven showers are expected, especially early in the day. The weather conditions will be very quiet over many other regions of South America, in fact one of the quietest days in many months. A thin band of showers and thunderstorms will extend inland across the Guinea Highlands to affect southern Venezuela and eastern Colombia. Temperatures will be mild to warm across the north and mild over all central regions of the continent. Highs will reach 16 in Montevideo with variable cloudiness and a few showers, 18 in Lima with mostly sunny skies, and 27 in Recife with partial sunshine.
U.S. and Southern Canada:
United States and Canada: A stubborn wave of low pressure will remain positioned over the coastal sections of the Carolinas. Rainfalls of 5 to 15 mm will extend from Virginia south to the state of Florida. To the north, a rather vigorous trough will be sweeping east across the eastern Great Lakes region with somewhat cooler temperatures and showers and thunderstorms slated for southern Ontario and much of central and southern Quebec. Another trough will be spinning east across Washington State and Oregon was wind-driven showers expected over those two states as well as over neighboring parts of Alberta and western Montana. Temperatures will be mild over Canada and the northern tier of the United States and warm to hot to the south. Highs will reach 17 Halifax with a mix of sun and clouds, 29 in Denver with mostly sunny skies, and 31 in Atlanta with variable cloudiness and a few thunderstorms.
