Jumblatt: If only Lebanon’s representative would remain silent in Arab meetings
National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that the regional and international axes stand in the way of an Arab consensus or agreement regarding the crisis in Syria, adding that the Arab League initiative has reached a stalemate.

In his weekly column in al-Anbaa daily, Jumblatt said “if only Lebanon’s representative would remain silent during the Arab meeting instead of preaching about means out of the current Syrian crisis. If only he would settle for the self-distancing policy for the time being to avert a further blow to the Lebanese state’s credibility.”

On the Lebanese scene, Jumblatt confirmed his objection to the recent attack against the 3 Lebanese fishermen, saying that the issue requires the highest level of awareness to prevent the frequent occurrence of such tragic incidents.

The PSP leader also voiced regret over the statements put forth by Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Chief Qassem Suleimani, adding that “this reconfirms the importance of returning to the national dialogue’s table to draw up a new national defense strategy.”
