Free Syrian Army thwart fleeing attempt by Bashar’s wife and relatives

Well-informed Syrian sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper that the Free Syrian Army thwarted a fleeing attempt by Asmaa Assad, the wife of Syrian President Bashar Assan, her sons, his mother Anisa Makhlouf, his cousin Rami Makhlouf and his sons. They were trying to leave Syria through Damascus airport.

According to the newspaper, an official convoy was seen heading to Damascus airport and was intercepted by a defective brigade that joined the Free Syrian Army. Gunshots were exchanged and helicopters shelled the brigades’ vehicles before the president’s security forces were able to make sure that the convoy returns safe to the presidential palace.
