Beirut-south highway reopened after residents blocked it

The Lebanese Armed Forces opened the coastal highway at Jadra after having to negotiate with the residents of the village of Barja who had blocked the Beirut-south Lebanon highway.

Around 300 people mainly of the town of Barja from the Chouf district blocked the highway on Monday, after a soldier from the town disappeared on Sunday morning.

NNA said that while residents were staging their demonstration in the middle of the street, a car tried to cross the street but ran over Iad Khatib who broke his hand, Salem Hamia, Mohamad Damej and Mohamad Terro who suffered concussions.
