REPORT: MP Abi Ramia says halting work on Janna dam "a major scandal"

Member of the Change and Reform bloc MP Simon Abi Ramia said Thursday that halting the work on Janna dam is “a major scandal,” stressing that the Water Authority of Beirut and Mount Lebanon has all the rights to build the dam in accordance with previously signed contracts.

In this regard, MP Abi Ramia called on Environment Minister Akram Chouhayeb to reconsider the decision to halt the work on said dam, noting that it has a large capacity and can be of great advantage for investment in both water and electricity.

During a joint press conference, MP Hekmat Dib pointed out that the Janna dam project is efficient and is capable of supplying Beirut, Jbeil and other regions with enough water, adding that all the allegations launched in the campaign against this project are not true.
