REPORT: Hezbollah SG Nasrallah decries “U.S.-Saudi aggression” on Yemen

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah voiced on Friday his rejection and condemnation to “the U.S.-Saudi aggression” on Yemen, expressing his solidarity with the “oppressed” Yemeni people.

“The real aim of the war [taking place in Yemen] is to restore the U.S.-Saudi hegemony over the country,” said Nasrallah, addressing a Hezbollah-organized 'Solidarity Rally with Yemen' in the Beirut Southern Suburbs.

“He who attacks the Yemeni people today is the one who must prove the authenticity of his Arab and Islamic identity,” Nasrallah said, asking “did the Arab people authorize Saudi Arabia to wage a war on Yemen on their behalf?”

Hezbollah SG Nasrallah also said that the Yemeni people are under siege and are being left without food and medical aid, adding “crimes are committed against women and children”.

“We thank the Pakistani government for its refusal to join the war,” Nasrallah said, calling on Pakistan and the Egyptian leadership not to take part in the conflict.

On another note, the Hezbollah chief confirmed that danger surrounds Saudi Arabia's Two Holy Mosques, “but it is coming from Daesh (an Arab acronym for the Islamic State group), whom after declaring a caliphate in Mosul announced that they will demolish the Holy Kaaba”.

Saudi Arabia launched air attacks in Yemen last month as Houthi rebels, who had taken control of the capital Sanaa in September, closed in on the port city of Aden and forced Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Riyadh.

The Houthis and army units loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh have been fighting alongside each other on several fronts against militia forces loyal to Hadi.
