Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah voiced on Friday his rejection and condemnation to “the U.S.-Saudi aggression” on Yemen, expressing his solidarity with the “oppressed” Yemeni people.
“The real aim of the war [taking place in Yemen] is to restore the U.S.-Saudi hegemony over the country,” said Nasrallah, addressing a Hezbollah-organized 'Solidarity Rally with Yemen' in the Beirut Southern Suburbs.
Saudi Arabia launched air attacks in Yemen last month as Houthi rebels, who had taken control of the capital Sanaa in September, closed in on the port city of Aden and forced Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Riyadh.
The Houthis and army units loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh have been fighting alongside each other on several fronts against militia forces loyal to Hadi.
