Judge sets date for start of trial in case against Al-Akhbar and Journalist Ibrahim Al Amin

The Contempt Judge, Nicola Lettieri, has ordered the trial in case STL-14-06 to start on 28 January 2016.

 

In a scheduling order issued today, the Judge set a date for a Pre-Trial Conference on 11 December 2015 at 3:30 pm (CET).

 

The Parties shall make opening statements and the Amicus Prosecutor shall present his case-in-chief from 28-29 January 2016 and 1-2 February 2016, as needed.

 

The Defense shall present its case, if any, from 25-26 and 29 February 2016 and 1 March 2016.

 

Journalist Ibrahim Mohamed Ali Al Amin and Al-Akhbar Beirut S.A.L are each charged with one count of contempt and obstruction of justice under rule 60 bis of the Tribunal's Rules of Procedure and Evidence. The initial appearances of the Accused were held on 29 May 2014.
