PM Salam chairs security meeting as Lebanon mourns bomb victims
Death toll of the double suicide attack that hit yesterday evening Beirut’s Bourj al-Barajneh reached 43, while more than 200 were injured.
Consequently, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) flew its flags at half-mast in mourning of the martyrs.

In this regard, State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saq tasked on Friday the competent authorities with delivering the bodies of the victims, which were inspected by forensics and coroners, to their relatives.

This as Prime Minister Tammam Salam chaired a security meeting at the Grand Serail in a bid to discuss the security situation and the latest developments.

The meeting was attended by several ministers and security leaders.

Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi said upon his arrival that he will request the referral of the Bourj al-Barajneh crime to the Justice Council.

Meanwhile, Judge Saqr Saqr and State Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud inspected the site of the explosions.

Hammoud said that the attack was carried out by two suicide bombers.
"The first suicide attacker blew himself up on a motorbike using 7 kilograms of explosives, while the second one was wearing an explosive belt weighing 2 kilograms," he added.

Casualties were reported on Thursday (November 12) when a double suicide attack went off around 6 pm in the busy Ain al-Sikkeh neighborhood of Bourj al-Barajneh in Beirut's southern suburb.

Moments later, the Islamic State released a statement via Twitter, claiming responsibility for the attacks.

In this regard, sources said that two suicide bombers wearing explosive belts were behind the attack, adding that 4 suicide bombers were present at the scene, two of them detonated themselves, one ran away and another one was killed right before detonating himself.
