Information Minister Ramzi Jreij stressed that all satellites are prohibited from trespassing the Lebanese laws, noting that the issue with satellite communications operator Arabsat is of sovereign nature and not triggered by political motives.
For his part, the General Manager of al-Manar TV channel Ibrahim Farhat, declared that the meeting held with Prime Minister Tammam Salam was positive, stressing the importance of protecting all the Lebanese channels, not only al-Manar TV.
Al-Manar had announced Friday that Arabsat suddenly stopped broadcasting the channel without explanation and in violation of their contract.
Disputes with Arabsat, which provides services to 20 Arab countries, emerged last month after it filed a lawsuit against pro-Syrian Al Mayadeen TV, which it also stopped broadcasting, after a guest criticized Riyadh's handling of the hajj stampede in which more than 2,000 people were killed.
