Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi revealed Wednesday that the ministry has received information stating that employees at a number of embassies are involved in human trafficking and black market, noting that the demands of the embassies regarding the foreign domestic workers have been met.
During a press conference, Minister Azzi stressed the need that the countries preventing their nationals, especially girls, from travelling to Lebanon to work at homes, must reconsider their decisions.
“Lebanon should not remain a victim of accusations in the case of foreign domestic workers, while other countries must be held responsible,” the minister added.
In this context, Azzi said that the Labor Ministry has introduced 16 measures to improve the situation of the domestic workers in Lebanon, adding that he will resume inspection of the offices that operate without legal documents.
