Saudi ambassador from Bkerke: National unity is golden rule for Lebanon's perseverance

Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Asiri expressed hopes on Tuesday that the country would be able to resolve the presidential deadlock and elect a president.

 

Asiri’s comments were made from Bkerke after holding talks with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai whereby he urged all Lebanese officials against “wasting any efforts to find solutions to the pending crises.”

 

“National unity is the golden rule for Lebanon's perseverance,” he added.

 

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since May 2014 when the mandate of Michel Sleiman ended without the election of a successor.
