Storm “Vladimir” tightened its grip on Thursday night on Lebanon, bringing a significant drop in temperatures, heavy rains, snowfall and violent winds.
The snow, which has covered most of the mountainous regions and the Bekaa valley, is expected to touch down at 700 meters of altitude.
Lebanon’s Traffic Management Center has reported that the roads of Bekfaya and its neighboring regions are currently passable.
However, the roads of Hammana – al-Mdeirej, Tarshish – Zahle and Dhour al-Chweir, Shebaa – Ain Ata and Kfarchouba have been blocked by accumulation of snow.
Meanwhile, Dahr al-Baydar road was cut off in both directions, as a layer of ice was formed, raising risks of accidents.
In this regard, the security forces called upon the citizens to refrain from driving on the road from Achkout roundabout towards the mountains, unless for urgent reasons and on board SUVs and equipped vehicles.
In Akkar, snow covered the regions located on an altitude of 700 meters above sea levels, while all the roads of mountainous regions at 1200 meters of altitude were completely blocked, mainly the roads of Qobeiyat – al-Hermel and Fneideq – al-Qammoua.
Meanwhile, bulldozers have been working since the early morning hours to reopen the roads and ensure safe traffic.
