Hariri says "Hezbollah acts as if in charge of the entire Shiite sect around the world"

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Sunday that Hezbollah has been acting as if it is in charge of the entire Shiite sect around the world, from Nigeria to Bahrain, India, Pakistan all the way to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States.

“Hezbollah has been following the footsteps of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and stemming from a false political reference and attempting to bring down the borders of national sovereignty of neighboring countries, by granting itself illogical rights to intervene in its internal affairs and object its decisions,” he stated.

In a statement he issued, Hariri noted that “in light of the long ongoing sequel in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other countries, it has become clear that sectarian backgrounds is controlling the behavior of Iran and its allies.”

In this context, he warned against limiting the reaction over the executions in Saudi Arabia to that against Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, recalling that 47 were executed.

He also stressed that Sheikh al-Nimr is a Saudi citizen, subject to the Saudi laws like other Saudi citizens and residents.

Hariri stated that Saudi Arabia is committed to serving the interests of the Islamic Nation, noting that the decision taken by the kingdom would never oppose these interests.

He also reiterated that Saudi Arabia is keen on preserving Lebanon’s security and stability, stressing its commitment to helping Lebanon preserve its national unity.
