Head of the Arab Tawhid Party former Minister Wiam Wahhab urged Friday Prime Minister Tammam Salam to take a stance concerning the case of the waste crisis, noting that “the latest developments in this regard represent a bigger scandal than that of Sukleen.”
In this context, he slammed the waste deportation decision, and stated that Sukleen Company is stronger that the state and the government.
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Wahhab pointed out that al-Naameh landfill is the best in the Middle East, but its misuse by Sukleen is what turned it into its current state, adding that the civil society movement was shut down by some of its own members and the state.
Concerning the presidential initiative, the former minister noted that the proposal was not eliminated, but instead it has been “frozen”, saying that former PM Saad Hariri discussed the issue with MP Sleiman Frangieh as if it was a personal matter, while he was supposed to discuss it with the whole team.
Commenting on the latest regional tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Wahhab expressed his optimism, stressing that Iran does not plan to strike Saudi Arabia.
