REPORT: Sierra Leone denies willingness to accept Lebanon’s waste

The African nation’s consulate said Sunday that “Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma wants to inform the Lebanese authorities and people that his country did not agree to accept Lebanon’s waste on its territories,” describing this information as “false.”

This as the country will take legal action against Dutch company Howa BV “for leaking false information.”

Earlier this week, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry received a letter from Sierra Leone authorities informing it of the country's willingness to accept its waste.

A letter signed by the adviser of President of Sierra Leone was addressed to Holland’s Howa BV firm that is tasked by the Lebanese cabinet with the exportation of the trash.

Last month, the cabinet approved an exportation plan to end the country’s nearly six-month waste crisis.
