Geagea says Rifi must refer Samaha’s case to Judicial Council
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea voiced on Sunday hopes that Justice Minister Achraf Rifi carries on with preparing a draft project to refer former Minister Michel Samaha's case to the Judicial Council.

He also called on Prime Minister Tammam Salam to submit Samaha’s case for discussion in the next cabinet session for approval.

Geagea’s comments were made via his Twitter account whereby he urged “those who are defending Samaha to resort to the Judicial Council to solve the issue.”

The Military Court of Cassation decided Thursday to release former Minister Michel Samaha on bail reaching an amount of LBP 150 million, Samaha’s defense attorney Sakher al-Hashem reported.

The court’s panel approved the release after Judge Tony Lattouf considered that Samaha had served his sentence, adding that he must attend the upcoming trial sessions.
In this context, Samaha would be banned from traveling and giving any statement to media outlets.

Samaha, who had close ties with the Syrian regime, was arrested in August 2012 for plotting attacks in Lebanon along with two Syrian officials.
