MP Daher urges transfer of Samaha’s case to Judicial Council

MP Khaled Daher urged on Thursday the transfer of former Minister of Information Michel Samaha’s case to the Judicial Council, demanding also justice for the Islamist inmates.

 

Daher’s comments were made following talks with Grand Mufti Abdel Latif Daryan at the Dar el-Fatwa whereby they discussed the latest developments and the presidential elections. ​

Samaha stood on Thursday before the judge at the Military Court of Cassation over the transfer of explosives from Syria to Lebanon in order to carry out terrorist acts.
Last week, Samaha was released on bail under the Military Court ruling that has stirred controversy across the country.​

Geagea announced on Monday his support for Free Patriotic Movement founder MP Michel Aoun, putting him at dispute with Marada Movement chief lawmaker Sleiman Franjieh, who is Hariri’s candidate.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of president Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014 without the election of a successor.
