REPORT: Hariri receives call from Aoun

Future Movement leader Saad Hariri received on Saturday a phone call from Change and Reform bloc head MP Michel Aoun where he reiterated the need to hold the presidential elections.

 

During the phone call, Hariri welcomed the latest rapprochement between the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces in Maarab,” Hariri's media office noted.

 

Moreover, Future leader noted to his own initiative that he launched that saw the nomination of Marada leader MP Sleiman Frangieh for the post.

 

He reiterated “the need to attend the parliamentary sessions to end the presidential vacuum.”

 

In a different phone call, Hariri tackled with Frangieh the latest developments and deployed efforts aiming to reactivate the work of the state’s institutions.

Aoun's call came following his endorsement on Monday by LF chief Samir Geagea for the presidency.

 

His move came after Hariri reached a deal with Frangieh late last year to support him for the presidency.

 

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since the mandate of President Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014.
