REPORT: Two soldiers drown as boat capsizes off Akkar coast
Two soldiers drowned, after a military boat capsized off the Akkar coast on Saturday.

The navy managed to locate the capsized military boat off the al-Arida coast, as army's helicopters are carrying out search operations in the area.

The Army Command noted that four Navy soldiers were sent on a mission of inspection and surveillance at the northern maritime borders, near Al-Qlayaat area Friday night.

“An emergency technical failure caused the gunboat to partially sink, losing contact with its crew,” it added.

The Army Command also said that two helicopters and a Sisina airplane accompanied by a Navy Patrol were immediately sent in search of the boat, two soldiers were rescued while two others died and their bodies were recovered.

The army's statement identified the martyrs as Adjutant Elyas Ramez Matar, born on 7.17.1982 in al-Zawarib/ Akkar, and soldie  Hassan Abd Ali Al-Jmal, born on 1.1.1992 in al-Qaser/Harmel.
