Wary calm prevailed on Saturday over the border towns of Asral and Qalamoun after two days of tense clashes between the al-Nusra Front and Islamic State militants.
IS had previously threatened the al-Nusra Front to execute six of its militants, which they had imprisoned earlier and killed two of them. The threat came subsequently after the al-Nusra Front captured one of IS’s leaders.
Moreover, IS stated that it will give al-Nusra "a serious blow" by occupying its positions in the Madinet al-Malahi area in Arsal
