Head of Labora Association, Father Tony Khadra stressed the need to protect the country through restoring balance, which will ensure social safety, noting that “the Christians feel their dignity insulted when the Christian positions at the public administrations are affected.”
Following a meeting for the representatives of the Christian parties headed by Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai in Bkerke, Khadra pointed out that all the conferees insisted on the need to put an end to the imbalance prevailing over the state’s institutions, proceeding from the Constitution and the National Pact.
He also called for cancelling the current appointments at the Finance Ministry and other ministries, urging to reconsider the appointments that had been made and the ones to be approved in the future.
In this regard, Khadra called on the concerned officials, mainly the Christian ministers to assume their responsibilities and give this matter their utmost attention.
Sources told LBCI that Father Abbot Antoine Khalifeh contacted Speaker Nabih Berri who promised to abstain from issuing the appointments of the Financial Ministry; however the Finance Minister had signed the appointments without registering them.
