Azzi rejects conditions imposed by International Community to assist Lebanon
Labor Minister Sajaan Azzi said Monday that linking the international aids with securing work opportunities for Syrian refugees is a massive issue for the Lebanese people, who already suffer from the high percentage of unemployment which reached about 25%; 36% of which are youth.

“Our Syrian brothers are already part of the Lebanese labor market, we certainly need them and must give them work permits,” he said.

“How can the International Community and donor countries refuse to fund Lebanon unless Syrians are included in the Labor market, haven’t we already welcomed over 700 thousand refugees, despite the tough conditions?” he stated.

The minister added that the International Community should look for ways to get refugees back to Syria instead of trying to get them into the Lebanese work force.

Azzi stressed that labor policies are specifically issued by the Labor Ministry and not by any other ministry, neither the Foreign Ministry nor the premiership.
