REPORT: Furious Civil Defense volunteers cut vital roads

Civil Defense volunteers, outraged over the Cabinet's failure on Tuesday to approve a decree to make them full-time workers, blocked vital roads across Lebanon.

Soon after the news broke out that the Cabinet failed to address the issue, the volunteers cut several roads across the country.

Earlier, the volunteers gathered at the Fouad Shehab Stadium in Jounieh, coinciding with the Cabinet session held at the Grand Serail.

The volunteers said that they are waiting for the implementation of the promises made by the Cabinet, which consist in making them full-time employees.

They also vowed to take escalatory steps should the ministers fail to meet their demands.

This comes as several activists held a movement in Beirut’s Bechara el-Khoury to call on the Cabinet to tackle the funding of the municipal elections.
