Maronite bishops: Talks remain ineffective unless empowered in parliament
Maronite bishops said Wednesday that Lebanon cannot be governed by alignments but through collaborations between its people.

“No matter how pure and truthful intentions and talks are, they remain ineffective until brought to life inside the parliament”, they added.

Following their monthly meeting, the bishops called upon the Lebanese government to stay away from political conflicts and put people first , asking officials "to fulfill the Civil Defense volunteers' demands by making them full-time employees and protecting Lebanon’s interests with other countries on the foundations of peace and justice”.

“Officials must not touch the spirit of the National Pact or Constitution which smoothly draw the line from the state of patriotism to a constitutional one, in order to continue governing Lebanon with clean hands while fighting the widespread corruption,” they said.
