REPORT: PM Salam says Lebanon will not abandon demand that refugees be permitted to return to their country
Prime Minister Tammam Salam voiced on Friday his “satisfaction” with the results of the donors conference on Syria” that was held in London on Thursday, adding however that he has not yet been notified about Lebanon's share of the donations for Syrian refugees.

On another note, Salam stressed that Lebanon will not abandon demand that the refugees be permitted to return to their country.

“No one spoke to us of naturalizing the refugees,” Salam noted.

The conference had raised over 10 billion dollars as aid to the Syrian refugees.

The Syrian conflict, which flared up in 2011, has prompted 4.6 million Syrians to seek refuge in neighboring countries like Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq and Egypt -- while hundreds of thousands have resorted to Europe.

Lebanon alone hosts around 1.5 million refugees.
