REPORT: Judge calls for death penalty for killer of Lebanese soldier Mohammad Hamieh
First Military Investigative Judge Riad Abou Ghaida Friday called for the death penalty for Syrians Ali Ahmad Laqis and Abu Malek al-Talli for their involvement in the execution of captive soldier Mohammed Hamieh.

In 2014, the al-Nusra Front released a video depicting the execution of the Lebanese captive serviceman Mohammad Hamieh with a bullet to the head.

In November 2015, The Lebanese Armed Forces arrested Ali Ahmad Laqis at Beirut's international airport as he was trying to flee the country, using a fake Syrian passport.

Laqis, who is the suspected killer of LAF martyr Mohammad Hamieh, is affiliated with al-Nusra Front.

This as the investigations disclosed that he is an expert in manufacturing explosives and has links with Abou Malek al-Talli, the so-called emir of al-Nusra in Qalamoun.
