Defense Minister Samir Moqbel stressed Saturday the need that the issue of allocating funds to the Lebanese Armed Forces be tackled with a different approach than that adopted when discussing other issues.
“We understand that the state suffers from a fiscal deficit, and we understand that we need revenues in order to spend, but the army cannot wait,” he added.
Following his meeting with Prime Minister Tammam Salam at the Grand Serail, Moqbel said that the army cannot be left with shortage in ammunition, while responsible for fighting terrorism and controlling the border.
The minister pointed out that the Prime Minister and Speaker are aware of the importance of this issue, noting they will cooperate in order to deal with this case.
