REPORT: Lebanon ministers voice rejection to fuel tax

Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi stressed Tuesday, via his Twitter account, that he will not agree on adding new taxes to gasoline.

For his part, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil said that the financial issue must be addressed in a comprehensive manner, adding that there is no decision to hike fuel price.

“All the ministers are committed to approve a decree to make Civil Defense volunteers full-time employees during the upcoming Cabinet session,” Hassan Khalil said in a tweet.

Rumor has it that the Cabinet is planning on adding a LL5,000 tax on every 20 liters of gasoline in order to secure new revenues.
