REPORT: Civil society activists hold protest in Beirut’s Riad al-Solh Square
Civil society activists staged Wednesday a sit-in in Beirut’s Riad al-Solh Square to protest against the Cabinet’s decision to add new taxes on gasoline in order to secure new revenues.

The protest took place in parallel with the Cabinet session held at the Grand Serail.

The protesters threatened to escalate if the Cabinet approves fuel tax, stressing that they will continue their protest seemingly since a Cabinet meeting is scheduled to be held tomorrow.

Rumor has it that the Cabinet is planning on adding a LL5,000 tax on every 20 liters of gasoline in order to secure new revenues.
