REPORT: Cabinet approves waste deportation funding
A Cabinet session was held on Wednesday at the Grand Serail, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam, where ministers approved giving the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) a $50 Million loan to funding the waste deportation process, while handing out a 130 billion L.L. loan to Ogero committee to pay off the salaries.

In the same context, Head of CDR Nabil Al-Jiser said that " waste deportation agreements will be signed in a couple of days, and the 50 million dollar loan will be the first payment on six months."

” Waste will be deported to Russia,” he added.

The Cabinet also approved payments for teachers’ compensation, but did not discuss the Gil al-Dib Bridge issue.

During the session, Justice Minister Ashraf stormed out protesting the government's failure to tackle the referral of former Information Minister Michel Samaha’s case to the Judicial Council.

"I will not attend any sessions before the issue tops the Cabinet's agenda," Rifi told reporters while leaving the Grand Serail.
Future Movement chief Saad Hariri tweeted moments after Rifi's decision to storm out of the session that "the minister's decision doesn't represent me," stressing that "whoever committed a crime will receive a punishment."

Samaha, a main ally to Syrian President Bashar Assad, was released on bail last month despite being convicted in a terror plot last year.

Prior to the session, Minister of Interior Nouhad Mashnouq said that the ministers will “continue discussing Lebanon’s financial state, the case of contractual professors,” adding that the waste deportation file may also be tackled.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Administrative Reform Nabil De Freige said that the case of Jal el-Dib Bridge will be discussed during the session.

On Wednesday a Cabinet session was held at the Grand Serail to discuss the country’s financial state.

Shortly after the session was launched, Interior Minister Nouhad Machnouk announced the cabinet’s approval to a draft bill making Civil Defense Volunteers full-time employees.

The decrees will pave the way for the Interior Minister to hold an exam that will prompt to the potential employment of the workers.

Also on Wednesday, the Cabinet also approved 50 billion Lebanese pounds for the Lebanese army, as declared by Minister of Industry Hussein Hajj Hassan.
