The Lebanese Army command announced in a press release Friday that the Lebanese Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji’s one week visit to Washington focused on the Lebanese army’s capabilities and big responsibilities, especially in fighting terrorists and securing Lebanese borders.
Kahwaji requested the United States’ contribution to maintaining Lebanon’s stability and keeping it away from any conflicts, while also discussing the Syrian refugee crisis and its vast effects on Lebanon.
The statement also added that the general stressed the Lebanese army’s continuous cooperation with the UNIFIL, while abiding by all UN resolutions especially the 1701 resolution.
Army command stated that US officials expressed their full support to the Lebanese Military forces, valuing their achievements in keeping Lebanon stable and secure.
In the same context, Kahwaji had also met with a number of Congress members and committee leaders.
