REPORT: Chinook Company apologizes, garbage to stay in Lebanon

The Council for Development and Reconstruction declared Friday, and further to the deadline given to the British Chinook Urban Mining International Company to present the documents proving Russia’s approval to receive Lebanon’s garbage, and which ended at 10:00 am today, the said company sent a letter whereby it apologized for failing to present the required documents within the deadline.

Accordingly, the necessary administrative procedures will be taken, mainly in terms of informing the company that the initial approval will be considered as null and void.

Earlier in the day, Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb, tasked with the issue of the waste crisis, told LBCI that he returned the file to the cabinet, expressing apologies for failing to reach a solution for the crisis for the known reasons.
