Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Awad Assiri said that “the reasons behind the latest political conflict with Lebanon are clear,” adding that “what happened is unworthy of the historic relations between the two countries.”
“Saudi Arabia will remain the best destination for the Lebanese businessmen and will keep its doors open before them,” the ambassador stated, calling on the Lebanese people to invest in Saudi projects.
In an interview with an economic magazine, Assiri said that Lebanon’s problem lies in the fact that the country gets negatively affected, rather than positively, by the current ruling geopolitics.
Commenting on the kingdom’s role in ending the presidential vacuum, Assiri stated that “Saudi Arabia does not interfere in the candidates’ names, but only seeks what is best for Lebanon,” pointing out that the absence of a president will only contribute to raising the existing tension.
The ambassador noted that “Lebanon is full of surprises and no one can predict the upcoming political atmosphere.”
“Politics in Lebanon resemble the weather in Britain,” he said.
