REPORT: Beirut Airport needs new safety equipment, perimeter wall -Zeaiter
Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Zeaiter said on Tuesday that loans are required to address pressing gaps in security at the Rafic Hariri International Airport, including a new perimeter wall and baggage inspection equipment.

“We need funding in order to get the required equipment that serve the airport's safety and security,” Zeaiter said in a press conference he held at the terminal.

The minister called on the Cabinet to swiftly approve the loans needed for the airport.

“They provide funds for the Interior Ministry, Education Ministry, but never for Beirut’s Airport,” he added.

Zeaiter concluded by expressing hope that the Cabinet would approve the necessary funds during its Thursday session.
