Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil held a meeting with the USs’ Charge d'affaires Richard Jones on Wednesday, where the latter explained that "the aim of hosting a global summit on the refugee crisis during UN’s next meeting in September is to secure further support for refugees."
Jones also discussed the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the possibilities of their settlement and Labor opportunities.
In an answer to a question on the USs' willingness to take in some of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon referring to the global sharing of responsibilities brought up during Geneva talks, Jones said that “they have held many interviews with refugees at the American Embassy in Lebanon, and many were accepted but they are still waiting for DC’s final acceptance".
"Since the place is too small in Lebanon the number of interviews remains limited", he added.
