REPORT: Some people with influence sought to change testimony of Dr. Alam - Abou Faour
Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour said on Wednesday that it is high time to lift all political covers protecting those involved in the sex slavery network in Jounieh.

Abou Faour stressed that the security forces are not neglecting such cases.

Abou Faour dubbed the doctor who performed the abortions on the women of the sex trafficking ring as “a criminal,” voicing regrets that the Lebanese Order of Physicians is defending him.

He also revealed that some people with influence sought to change the testimony of Dr. Riad al-Alam.

Yesterday, Health Ministry, with the support of security forces, raided the clinic of gynecologist Riad al-Alam who performed about 200 abortions on the 75 sex slaves recently freed.

The ministry shuttered the clinic and sealed it off with red wax.

It also cancelled the license of doctor al-Alam, the anesthesiologist and the nurse.

This as a health ministry representative confirmed that the ministry is following up on this case and is willing to expand the investigations.
The Internal Security Forces arrested last Friday Dr. Riad al-Alam for carrying out “nearly 200 abortions”.

An ISF statement said that the security forces arrested a doctor and a nurse who carried out abortions, one day after it had apprehended Lebanon's largest known sex trafficking ring and freed 75 Syrian women.
