Hezbollah condemns NileSat’s transmission cut of al-Manar channel
Hezbollah strongly condemned on Wednesday the decision by the Egyptian Satellite Company (NileSat) to cut transmission of its al-Manar television channel.
“Hezbollah perceives as an obvious violation of freedom of opinion and freedom of expression in the unfair decision that was taken by NileSat,” the party noted in a statement.
It also dubbed the move as “an attempt to muzzle the voice of resistance and right that is embodied in this channel.”
Yesterday, Al-Manar was taken off NileSat and officials at both the TV network and the NileSat confirmed that the transmission had been cut due to accusations the channel violated its contract by diffusing programs encouraging “sectarian” strife.
