Man arrested in Tripoli for contacting IS, attempted assassination
A man was apprehended on Tuesday in the northern city of Tripoli for communicating with the Islamic State group and attempting to assassinate a Lebanese national.
The Tripoli State Security bureau arrested a Lebanese national identified only by his initials as A. W. in the Tripoli region of al-Qobbeh for contacting Syria’s Raqa-based IS members.
The detainee confessed to “attempting to assassinate a Lebanese national identified as M. D. by shooting at him from a pistol in the al-Qobbeh region for his collaboration with security agencies.
A man who was near M.D. was unintentionally injured in the incident.
The detainee was referred to the concerned judicial authorities.
