Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rai reiterated on Tuesday his call for the International community to find peaceful solutions for the existing wars, to establish a comprehensive peace and to ensure the safe return of all refugees to their homelands.”
Rai’s comments were made from Brussels whereby he also urged all Lebanese officials to elect a new president “in order to enable Lebanon to play its pioneer role worldwide.”
On another note, he condemned the terrorist attacks that took place in Brussels, conveying his condolences to the families of the victims.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rai stressed before heading to Brussels that “the presidency is the key solution to the country’s pending issues.”
Rai expressed hope that the municipal polls would pave the way for conducting the parliamentary elections as well as the presidential elections.
“The value of Lebanon resides in the rotation of power and the democratic system,” he added.
