Judge rejects request to release ex-MP Yaacoub
Investigative Judge Peter Germanos  rejected  on Wednesday a request by the defense team of former MP Hassan Yaacoub to release him.

The legal team claims that the legal detention  period of the ex-MP has ended, adding that the pre-trial detention in serious crimes is capped to a maximum of six months, renewable once.

Yaacoub was arrested over his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Hannibal Gadhafi, son of late Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi.

The Yaacoub family blames the late Gadhafi for the 1978 disappearance of their father, Sheikh Mohammad Yaacoub who was with Shiite Imam Musa Sadr during an official visit to Libya.
