Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun said Saturday that “all the beneficiaries of the 1960 electoral law will impede the way for finding a new bill,” stressing the need to rectify the Christian representation.
Aoun’s remarks were made during an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said whereby he said that House Speaker Nabih Berri is keen on preserving the national pact’s requirements, thus he did not hold a legislative session amid the absence of one of the country’s main Christian parties.
“He instead called on the joint committees to examine the submitted draft laws in a bid to find a new electoral bill,” the lawmaker added.
As for the waste management dossier, Aoun noted that the state should assume its responsibilities in order to get serious and sustainable results.
“Lebanon’s area, particularly in Mount Lebanon and Beirut, is kind of limited due to population density, which poses a fundamental problem in terms of landfills,” he stated.
