REPORT: Hariri meets Davutoglu in Istanbul

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri met Saturday with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Lutfi Elvan at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.

On the second day of his official visit to Istanbul, Hariri also held talks with Turkish PM Ahmet Davutoglu.

The top diplomats mainly touched on matters that had been tackled during Hariri's lengthy meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Yildiz Palace in Istanbul one day earlier.

Davutoglu stressed that he will visit Lebanon soon to discuss the situation in the country and the region.

Hariri Friday held talks with Erdogan at the Yildiz Palace, where they discussed the latest developments in the region and the bilateral relations between both countries.

Following his meeting with Erdogan, Hariri said that the talks featured high on Lebanon’s presidential vacuum, the negative repercussions of the Iranian intervention in the region and the need to help Beirut to tackle the refugee crisis.

Hariri had traveled to Turkey late Thursday night.

He is accompanied by former Minister Bassem Sabeh and his advisor Ghattas Khoury, the statement added.
