Jdita residents protest against postponement of municipal elections in their town

Residents of the town of Jdita in Bekaa staged a protest denouncing the decision of the Interior Ministry to delay the municipal elections of their town.

Earlier in the day, Minister of Interior Nouhad Machnouq announced a decision to postpone the municipal elections in Zahle’s Jdita and West Bekaa’s Hosh al-Harimeh regions.

The decision came following the ongoing sectarian tensions in the town of Jdita, while the minister cited security reasons for postponing the polls in Hosh al-Harimeh region.
