REPORT: Arsal prepares for municipal elections as refugees remain neutral

Despite all fears of a possible security incident in the town of Arsal, the preparations for the municipal elections there are ongoing by leaps and bounds, mainly at the schools were the voters will cast their votes.

While the Lebanese Armed Forces troops have been working on ensuring the safest atmosphere for the elections to take place, the current Mayor Ali Mohammad al-Hujairy called on all Syrian refugees not to walk around the town starting Saturday at 01:00 pm until Monday 10:00 am, unless in cases of emergency.

In the same context, the advisory board for the Syrian groups in Arsal issued a statement whereby it said that they will remain neutral regarding the elections and will not interfere in any way in the electoral process.
