Polls opened Sunday morning for municipal elections in the region of Baalbek-Hermel, where the city of Baalbek is witnessing a symbolic competition between a Hezbollah-Amal movement alliance list and another list.
251,515 voters are expected to cast their ballot in Baalbek to elect 58 municipal councils, while the city of Brital is set to see a fierce electoral race.
Baalbek-Hermel Governor Bashir Khodor reassured the residents of Arsal, saying that the security situation is excellent, revealing a heavy turnout to the municipal and mokhtar elections in the town.
