Education Minister Elias Bou Saab explained Wednesday that his ministry has been working for more than two years in order to treat the issue of the refugees, while preserving the well-being of the schools and Lebanese students.
During an extended meeting for the ambassadors and representatives of the donor countries and international organizations taking part in funding the ministry’s project to educate the refugees, Bou Saab confirmed that all donations granted to Lebanon are not paired with a precondition related to the resettlement of the refugees.
“Lebanon alone is not capable of handling this issue,” the minister added, noting that it is not possible to take care of the student refugees without developing the education sector.
In the same context, European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief Feredica Mogherini said that supporting Lebanon and Jordan cope with the issue of the refugees serves the best interests of Europe and the European citizens.
