Voter turn out reaches 56% in Mount Lebanon's municipal polls - Machnouq

The Interior and Municipalities Ministry declared Sunday the voters’ turnout rate for Mount Lebanon governorate’s municipal and mokhtar elections reached 56%.

The results came as follows: 55% in Jbeil, 43.8 % in Metn, 46% in Chouf, 45% in Alay, 39.5% in Baabda and 55.14% in Keserwan.

In his regard, Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq revealed that four people were arrested in Keseroun-al-Ftouh over bribery charges, and one in Haret Sakher.

From Ghbeiri Machnouq stated that “the scuffles that occurred during the election process were limited”, pointing out that what Lebanon needs is a president not parliamentary elections.

The Interior Ministry laid-off one of the employees responsible for one of the ballot boxes in the town of Tertej in Jbeil, after finding three different electoral lists in his pocket for candidates from his town, and was replaced with another employee.

The detainee was referred to the Competent Court.
