Tony Frangieh, son of Marada Movement chief Sleiman Frangieh, declared Monday that “the municipal and mokhtar elections came to give the people hope that Lebanon is capable of handling its own affairs,” adding that the Lebanese citizens can count on the local councils.
Frangieh stressed that the residents of Zgharta have been paying the price of political divisions since too long, noting that deprivation has affected many regions.
For his part, head of the Independence Movement Michel Moawad pointed out that “agreement represents a message from Zgharta saying that differences must not turn into disputes,” stressing that they are capable of overcoming all conflicts only to serve the best interests of Zgharta.
“We decided to cooperate in order to serve our city and our region; our agreement was built on a comprehensive development vision,” he stated.
