REPORT: Mohamed al-Hujeiri’s body found on top of soldier’s grave

Body of Hussein Mohamed al-Hujeiri was found Tuesday on top of martyred soldier Mohammad Hamieh’s grave in Lebanon’s Taraya.

Earlier this week, Mohammad was kidnapped in Balbek’s Ras El-Ain, after he had taken part in an UN-sponsored meeting aimed to discuss the Syrian refugee crisis.

After the body was found, Father of Hamieh, Maarouf Hamieh, admitted to the killing of al-Hujeiri saying, “I took revenge for my son, I’m in a safe place now and will not be turning myself in.”

Mohammed is the nephew of fugitive Islamist cleric Mustafa al-Hujeiri also known as “Abou Taqiyeh.”

In October 2014, an indictment and an arrest warrant were issued against fugitive Sheikh Mustafa al-Hujeiri on charges of belonging to al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front.

In 2014, the al-Nusra Front, al Qaeda's affiliate in Syria, killed Lebanese soldier Mohammad Hamieh, who it had been holding in captivity.

Hamieh was among troops that were kidnapped by the Islamic State and al-Nusra Front militants in the wake of deadly clashes that erupted in the northeastern border town of Arsal.

Nineteen troops were killed in the fighting as 35 soldiers and policemen were taken hostage. The Front later released seven security personnel who were in its custody while the IS has executed two army troops.

Late in 2015, 19 soldiers were released while nine are still captivated.
