REPORT: Nasrallah delivers televised speech, reiterates importance of Resistance, army, people equation
Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a televised speech on Wednesday marking the 16th Liberation and Resistance Day anniversary.

“Alive and present nations are the ones that hold on to their achievements, martyrs, civilization and sacrifices of their people, raising their children, grandchildren and the generations to come on knowledge cultivation and pride,” he added.

Nasrallah called for turning the Liberation and Resistance Day into a national one, thanking Prime Minister Tammam Salam for making it a day off.

“The people, the military and Resistance will always remain a power element for the country at a time where Arab countries have long-drooped and the world nations have long-colluded with Israel’s interests.”

Hezbollah leader also stated that “on this day we must remember that part of our land still lies under occupation and is banned from Lebanese sovereignty, as some of our people are missing and are still behind bars.”

“The axis of resistance in the region’s ongoing battle will not be defeated and will gain victory. The Palestinian flag shall rise and the Palestinian conflict will become the main and only conflict in the region”, he added.

On the municipal elections, Nasrallah emphasized that “the results of the elections have proven the strong coalition between Hezbollah and the Amal movement, saying that "this level of accomplishment comes to express people’s confidence in them.”

“Whoever won in the municipal elections has won, rivalries must not build between families and the elected municipal councils now lie in the circle of responsibility”, he said.

On another note, Nasrallah called for drafting a new electoral law for the upcoming parliamentary elections that "is fully based on relativity."

“We do not support the 60’s law, because re-configuring power can be achieved through a new electoral law, which the parliamentary elections will be held according to”, he said.

Hezbollah leader added that “who wants to hold presidential elections, must move, negotiate and be open for discussions, but should not give his back while accusing others of obstructing the presidential elections."
